No relatório enviado à autarquia, o representante da Volvo diz que “não foi possível determinar o ponto de ignição do evento térmico, uma vez que a maior parte do material da frente da viatura, ardeu por completo”.
E ainda: “A partir da inspeção efetuada ao veículo, não conseguimos identificar a origem e registamos o incidente como indeterminável”. Em conclusão, “não se identificaram provas de qualquer defeito de fabrico que possa ter levado ao fenómeno térmico”.
Respondendo ao deputado Fernando Almeida, na última reunião da Assembleia Municipal, o presidente da Câmara garantiu que o Volvo (híbrido) tinha seguro contra todos os riscos e, em conjunto com a seguradora, vai “avançar para Tribunal porque a câmara será sempre ressarcida porque o carro foi comprado por 60 mil euros”.
Em face do teor da resposta da concessionária da marca sueca, Domingos Silva comentou, indignado: “A marca deixou de ser de prestigio para mim”.
A viatura, com o antigo presidente Salvador Malheiro ao volante, começou a arder, na A1, pouco depois de Leiria, ao km 115, no sentido Norte/Sul.
A viagem decorria normalmente até que surgiu uma mensagem de “deficiência no motor”, contou Salvador Malheiro, na altura.
O Volvo híbrido foi rapidamente tomado pelas chamas e em poucos minutos ardeu completamente.
