Foram esta quinta-feira apresentados os mapas da progressão das infecções por COVID-19 desta semana, partilhado pelo Centro Europeu de Prevenção e Controlo de Doenças (ECDC, na sigla em inglês). A maioria da Europa ocidental ainda está pintada a vermelho escuro, a cor que corresponde à existência de mais de 300 casos positivos de COVID-19 por 100 mil habitantes.
Se Portugal, França e Itália são os países mais visíveis a vermelho, a Espanha viu mais territórios do país a ficarem a vermelho, desde a semana passada. Em contraste, há um registo de melhorias na Europa de Leste, com diversas regiões pintadas a amarelo e até a verde, que representa menos de 40 casos positivos de COVID-19 por 100 mil habitantes.

Ainda não é certo se a situação de alerta devido à pandemia vai ser prolongada, como tem sido feito sucessivamente, uma vez que acaba hoje o prazo. Os especialistas dizem que é prudente continuar no estado de alerta, uma vez que a pandemia ainda não acabou e continuam com uma média de 10.000 casos diários e uma mortalidade acima da média desejada, com o Rt acima do 1.
Recorde-se que o uso de máscaras deixou de ser obrigatório no geral, exceto em lares, hospitais e transportes públicos. Essa medida poderá estar ligada à subida do número de casos de infeção. Os dados mais recentes do Instituto Nacional de Saúde Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA) referem que o número médio de infeções diárias subiu de 9.474 registados na semana passada para 11.153, com o índice de transmissibilidade (Rt) em 1,07 a 29 de abril e no dia 22 o mesmo estava nos 1,01.
Esta semana foi anunciado que em finais de agosto e inícios de setembro começam as vacinações da quarta dose da vacina, a começar pela população idosa com mais de 80 anos. A Ministra da Saúde, Marta Temido, referiu que a administração da dose de reforço às pessoas com mais de 80 anos está “em linha com a posição da Agência Europeia do Medicamento” e que para pessoas abaixo de 60 anos, não se justificará ainda o reforço.
